Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and the provider of Stobi. We wrote them to be readable, not ceremonial, but every clause matters. By creating an account or using the app you accept these Terms.

1. Who we are

Stobi is provided by Violetta Suokas (sole trader), Helsinki, Finland. Contact: hello@stobi.app.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Stobi. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed these Terms and the Privacy Policy on your behalf and agrees to them. We may close accounts that misrepresent age.

3. What the service does

• You paint a real stone, photograph it, and "hide" it at a public spot. The stone appears on the community map with a randomized location offset.
• Other users can find the stone, photograph it, and log a find. Stobi's image-similarity AI verifies the match.
• You can chat with the community, comment on stones, like stones, and re-hide stones you find.
• You may earn diamonds (💎) as in-app rewards. Diamonds are a virtual currency for in-app use only, have no monetary value, and cannot be cashed out, refunded for cash, or transferred between users.

4. Subscriptions and purchases

• Stobi Premium is offered monthly (€3.99/month) or annually (€35/year), with a 3-day free trial for first-time subscribers. Pricing in your local currency is shown on the App Store / Google Play page; Apple or Google may charge applicable VAT.
• Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period at the then-current price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. Cancel anytime in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions or Google Play → Subscriptions. Access continues until the end of the paid period.
• Diamond booster packs are one-time in-app purchases. Diamonds are delivered immediately on purchase and are non-refundable once delivered.
• Free 14-day right of withdrawal (EU/EEA consumers) — under the Finnish Consumer Protection Act and EU Directive 2011/83/EU you have 14 days to withdraw from a paid contract. By starting to use Premium content immediately, you expressly request immediate performance and acknowledge that the right of withdrawal is lost once digital content has been delivered (Kuluttajansuojalaki 6:16).
• Billing and refunds are handled by Apple App Store or Google Play. Stobi cannot directly refund a purchase; please contact Apple/Google through their support channels.

5. Community rules

Stobi is a friendly place for stone painters, families, and walkers. To keep it that way:

• No harassment, hate speech, threats, sexual content involving minors, or targeted abuse.
• No spam, advertising, link dumping, or off-topic content in chat.
• No fake finds, no GPS spoofing, no use of multiple accounts to farm rewards. Server-side cheat detection is active.
• Only paint stones you own or have permission to paint. Don't damage public art, nature reserves, or private property.
• Don't hide stones in dangerous or sensitive locations: roads, railway tracks, construction sites, water hazards, schools, private gardens, or any place that could endanger a child trying to find them.
• Don't impersonate others or post content you don't have the rights to.

6. Content moderation and your responsibilities

You alone are responsible for the content you submit. By posting you confirm that you have the rights to do so and that the content does not break these Terms or any applicable law.

• Every uploaded photo passes automated NSFW screening. Photos that fail are blocked from upload.
• Users can report any content, comment, or chat message through the long-press menu, and can block other users immediately.
• We review every report within 24 hours and remove content or eject accounts that violate these Terms. Severe violations result in immediate, permanent removal without refund.

7. Intellectual property

You retain ownership of the photos, captions, and stone artwork you upload. By posting them in Stobi you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, and distribute that content within the Stobi service for the purpose of operating, promoting, and improving the service. We will not use your content outside of Stobi without your separate permission.

The Stobi name, mascot, app icon, brand assets, and code are the property of Violetta Suokas. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute them without written permission.

8. Termination

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account, or by emailing us. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these Terms, that are inactive for over two years, or that we are required by law to remove. Upon termination, your active subscription will run to the end of its paid period and will not auto-renew.

9. Liability and disclaimer

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by Finnish law, we are not liable for:

• injuries, accidents, or losses sustained while travelling to hide or find stones (always watch where you are going);
• damage to stones, property, or third-party items;
• disputes between users;
• data loss caused by your device, your network, or platform-wide outages;
• indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

Our total liability arising out of or in connection with the service is limited to the amount you paid to Stobi in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or €50 if greater. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or liability that cannot be excluded under Finnish consumer law.

10. Changes to the Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced in the app at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of Stobi after the change means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept them, you can delete your account before the change takes effect.

11. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Finland. The mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence apply where they are more favourable to you. Disputes that cannot be resolved by contacting us will be heard by the District Court of Helsinki (Helsingin käräjäoikeus); EU consumers may instead use the Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr or, in Finland, the Consumer Disputes Board (Kuluttajariitalautakunta, kuluttajariita.fi).

12. Apple App Store additional terms

If you obtained Stobi from the Apple App Store you also agree to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement. Apple is not responsible for the app or for any claims relating to it; in the event of any conflict between these Terms and Apple's EULA, the terms more favourable to you apply. You acknowledge that Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms entitled to enforce them against you with respect to your iOS use of Stobi.
